Microsoft also moved up the time frame from spring to February 28 through March 3 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. The show will become a networking event. There are fireside chats and sessions billed specifically as networking opportunities—which includes all the meals—but apparently not a host of breakouts of specific topics, the usual fare for the software company's user conferences. It would have been hard for Microsoft to sell a lot of booth space anyway, It signed up vendors for Convergence and then switched shows after they had already put their names on contracts. The result was lots of empty buses, registration lines and sessions. On the user side, Microsoft is putting its efforts into supporting shows such as the Summit for user groups for its Dynamics applications. This version of Envision follows the same speaker pattern as the first rendition—no heavy reliance on outside speakers and right now, all Microsoft.
