Then I realized the same thing was probably true of another organization I belonged to (it was). And I remembered an accounting software company that had a page set up in its name by a user. That same company now has five pages in its name, two in the same town because it had two different addresses. Another prominent ERP vendor has more than one. Then I started checking CPA firms. In the case of one Top 20 accounting firm, Facebook has set up pages for every one of the firm's offices, around 15, and the same is true of a Top 10 firm. These can be a distraction. In the case of one organization that I belong to, there are members "liking" both pages. And in the case of that first software company, it took some time for me to realize that one page was not the official page. At the least, these can muddy a business's marketing. At the worst, it would not be hard for some disgruntled person to claim a page and do damage. So do a search for your business on Facebook utilizing the Page filter.
