DACEASY 2013 RELEASED

Sage logoOld software programs never die. They continue to be sold by Sage. Things are supposed to change as Sage winnows its product line. But meanwhile, DacEasy 2013 has been released.

The program is so old, the first manual is still being deciphered by archaeologists from the original clay tablets. But as Dave Hanna, CEO of Sage Software years ago, said when I asked why DacEasy was still on the market, "We make money with it." That apparently still being the case, the new release had a wide range of enhancements. Sage says key improvements included include bundling items as kits, quicker past history information lookup for vendor and customers, customizable sort order for printing picking tickets, more efficient customer reference number lookup, improved shipping accuracy, and the ability to filter to see only outstanding invoices. This is pretty nitty gritty stuff, so rather than rehash the rest of the press release, I refer you to the Sage website. I once was on the board of a membership-based organization that was convinced to buy DacEasy. That was fun. The total pledge amount was considered to be a receivable so the year started out with a very large accounts receivable line which was then reduced as payments were recognized from each pledger. Pledgers also got statements showing "amount owed." That went over real well. Obviously, the  program is a bit more suited to inventory-based companies.
