AX GETS PROCESS MFG BOOST

Kees Hertogh,  Microsoft Dynamics AX is getting new capabilities in process manufacturing with R2, due for release on December 1. New features were detailed in a blog on the Microsoft website this week by Kees Hertogh, director of Microsoft ERP. These include management of potency, traceability and product batch sequencing.

For example, potency management enables a company to manage the concentration of an active ingredient through the entire manufacturing process. Retail enhancements include multi- and cross-channel capabilities, including catalogue management and cross-channel workflows. Integrated sales channel management will include a new “out of the box” web storefront offering based on SharePoint 2013. For public sector users, AX gets a simplified budgeting process by combining Excel inside AX. That is said to support new capabilities in budget formulation with workflow approvals, flexible tracking, and reporting. Improvements in intercompany scheduling capability of project resources are esigned for the professional services market. Microsoft will also add support for U.S. payroll. The company also gave Dynamics AX more and updated key performance indicator content that will come with the SQL business intelligence cubes shipped with the release. The new AX also utilized the Power view technology introduced in SQL Server 2012
