NETSUITE REVS POP

Zach Nelson, NetSuiteNetSuite turned in a strong third quarter for the period ended September 30, a quarter that CEO Zach Nelson said is generally a difficult one. But in this case, the company reported $78.8 million in revenue, an increase of 31 percent from last year’s corresponding period.

The cloud software company continued on its normal track, reporting a GAAP loss but non-GAAP net income. The loss of $8 million was up 15 percent from the $6.9 million in red ink registered a year ago. But since the pace of the increased loss was far less than the rise in revenue, the company gained a lot of ground, even in GAAP net income. In this week’s webcast, Nelson said NetSuite had added about 300 customers during the most recently ended three months. With the strongest revenue growth in three years, the company continues to hire. The sales force was 30-percent higher than a year earlier and NetSuite plans to hire more sales representatives with marketing and sales expense expected to rise slightly in the current quarter. Nelson reportd that the channel business grew by more than 40 percent over the last year, but gave no other details. He also took his usual shots at the competition. Nelson said Microsoft missed a deadline for a cloud product and it probably was not a true cloud product anyway and continued to call SAP's Business By Design a failed product. He also took a big swing at Sage "Sage is effectively dying. It is killing products," he said. I doubt Sage would agree.
