EXACT CHANGES ENGAGE TIMING
Exact has shifted its annual Exact customer conference from the spring to the fall. The conference is being held in September this year, instead of the usual May and will focus on fewer products The company hopes to announce a venue next week. All of this reflects the major reorganization in Exact's operations that was done during the last year.
"We are planning an Engage event for 2013, focused on the Macola and Globe customer bases," said Kip Martin, head of marketing for the Exact's Macola, Globe, and Synergy lines. He noted that Synergy would not be involved since "its usage tends to cross other installed bases". There will also probably be a separate conference for users of the company's Max manufacturing software. However, details are not yet available. When Exact reorganized, it placed Max in a different operating unit so that would seem to explain the change in event planning. Martin himself represents part of the change. He took his job in September after working at a variety of jobs at Cisco from 2008, the last position as senior manager, operations, worldwide field marketing. Exact dumped its American management last year in what I believe was a sound, overdue business decision. Martin noted reorganization had impacted conference planning. "Most of the players and processes that, in most organizations, would carry over from year to year are no longer here, and we're taking a fresh look at an amazing range of things," he said.
