It's easy to believe the real total is as low as the 10 that was quoted to me during the week at the AICPA Tech+ conference. Among the drop outs is cloud specialist Sererra, based in Irvine, Calif. While its web page shows it still carrying ByD, it's not on the SAP list and VP Vijah Saha said the web page is being updated to reflect the change. The problems include the product, according to one reseller who did not want to publicly quoted.“The product is still a struggle, hard to configure and get running, and some big holes in the feature set,” he said. The plan is to sell SAP’s Business One until things are ironed out. However, one SAP specialist, Navigator Business Solutions, is still enthusiastic about ByD.  “SAP has very much a channel-oriented channel strategy for ByD, albeit targeted at a slightly higher market than when we originally sold it to,” says owner Grant Fraser.ByD fits a market roughly defined as companies with $10 million to $500 million in revenue, he continues.Channel management itself has changed. Kim Treaster, North American channel manager for ByD, departed  about two months ago. He was replaced by John Okunski, who was previously senior channel sales manager for the Eastern U.S.  If he's trying to recruit ByD VARs, he's got a lot of work ahead.
