Andy Vabulas, I.B.I.S.Microsoft trotted out a new acronym, Global Independent Software Vendor, at the Worldwide Partner Conference this week Among the four companies announced in the new problem is Atlanta-based I.B.I.S., which is joined the program as a provider of industrial distribution capabilities built on Dynamics AX. The other three members are automotive software maker Incadea, food supply-chain consultancy Anglia Business Solutions, and retail automation vendor Escher Group. I.B.I.S. CEO Andy Vabulas says his company developed features in the area of revenue management, order management, inventory and procurement. The VAR built a layer on top of AX that handles advanced pricing, commissions, optimized order-entry, lost sales tracking, consignment and vendor managed inventory. There will be more GISVs and Microsoft says there will 19 in this fiscal year and that it is evaluating candidates. For the layman, what the licensing in the GISV program provides is still a bit tough to ascertain from the official statement. The official response to a question was “The GISV program offers special partner agreements between select solution providers and Microsoft that help companies with deep industry expertise tailor software solutions and offer exactly the right fit for customers.” I would assume there is some special treatment available to participants.
