QBES ALLIED CHANNELS DEVELOPING

The last two months has seen the development of products allied with QuickBooks into more mature channels. Fishbowl Inventory, which has 400 resellers, began looking for traditional mid-market VARs last month.

The current channel members are "more quid-pro-quo IT advisors, taking on a VAR role," according to a statement posted on Fishbowl's blog by its chief marketing officer, Kirk Tanner. (Not sure I would have made that statement in print.) There's no magic ingredient, the program offers the standard kinds of VAR pricing along with training and marketing. But, if the program fits a reseller’s market, then it really is a secret ingredient. That announcement followed one by SmartVault, which makes document management applications for the QB set, that it is starting a program for developers. Both companies are allied with the Sleeter Group. Fishbowl VARs can join the Sleeter Group network for free. Developers like SmartVault gain inside access to pitch to Sleeter VARs.
