SAGE NORTH AMERICAN BIZ UP 6 PERCENT Featured

Guy Berruyer, SageSage says organic revenue grew by 6 percent for its North American operations for the year ended September 30. That's up considerably from the 2-percent increase reported for fiscal 2012. Don't look for exact numbers for the continent or the United States in the parent company report as those are contained in results for the Americas. For the hemisphere, EBITA was roughly $188.4 million, up 7 percent from the prior year, while Americas revenue was $734.2 million, an 8-percent rise.

Chief Executive Guy Berruyer noted some important trends in the Americas, which included sales of Business Care, which he termed "a primary driver". He also said there had been 12-percent organic revenue growth for Sage ERP X3, up sharply from 5 percent last year. Berruyer noted that 50 percent of X3 revenue is now coming from outside France, the original home of the product. The move to subscription revenue was also cited as important in sales of Sage 100 and Sage 300. "We have attracted a new type of customer to Sage 100 and Sage 300, with subscription making the up -front cost of a more sophisticated ERP solution more affordable to smaller businesses by removing the initial perpetual license cost," Berruyer said in a prepared statement. Total revenue rose to about $2.3 billion for the most recently ended year, a 3-percent rise from 2012. However, EBITA was down significantly, falling 48 percent to about $296 million
