NEW MACOLA VERSION DEBUTS IN APRIL Featured

ExactExact Macola plans to unveil an updated version of the venerable manufacturing software package at its new Evolve conference. The product is billed as a “next-generation solution designed to better serve its primary customer base as well as larger mid-market organizations”.

The general updates cited include an enhanced user interface, user configurability, role-based models and ease of third-party integration. I did not notice any mention of the cloud or SaaS. This shows it pays to read press releases all the way through as the new version was mentioned in the press release that announced the show to be held April 22 through 25 at the Gaylord Texan Resort in Grapevine, Texas. The Evolve theme is “Connecting with Customers” and despite the statement from Alison Forsyth, managing director of Exact Macola about how loyal Macola customers are, attrition remains one for the major issues for that package and for Exact applications in general.  The show sounds a lot like Microsoft Convergence with the channel exhibiting to end users. Exact put its North American products - including Macola, Max and JobBoss – on their own during a reorganization in 2012. Macola has been the busiest, at least from the number of press releases issued last year, while Max has been quiet for a year. In November, Release 11.7 of JobBoss was released. That was touted the introduction of a mobile app, along with enhanced access to Non Conformance  Reports from Job Entry, Sales Order Entry, Purchasing, Quote Entry and Material screens.
