MACDONALD OUTLINES INFOR GOALS

Taylor MacdonaldIf anyone has visited Infor’s Web site and had trouble finding information on a channel program, that’s an area that Taylor Macdonald has outlined as targeted for improvement in his new role as VP Worldwide channels for the software giant.

The former Sage channel evangelist has been visiting Infor’s regions, having already traveled to Asia and planning his schedule for Latin America visits. Macdonald, in London meeting partners today, said he wants to create a best-in-class channel and channel team; put together a comprehensive program to help resellers generate leads on their own; and to come up with a strategy “around partner recruitment, certification and enablement.” Infor, which has been put together by acquisition, has not yet created a consistent program and Macdonald said the company wants to establish a baseline for partner performance, along with identifying areas in which the program needs to vary to meet needs in different products and regions.  He characterized Infor VARs as playing in the mid-market space occupied roughly by Dynamics AX and Epicor, an area in which he said there is no clear market leader. A good channel program is aimed at changing that. As part of the improvement, the Infor Web site will get a partner area and a partner finder “so people can find partners and buy products.”  The clear message that Infor has given its employees is “Infor is serious about partners,” Macdonald said.
