SALES EXECUTION DENTS EPICOR Featured

Peter Elmgren, EpicorSales execution in the United State impacted Epicor's ERP revenue  for 2014, the company said in this week's conference call. Epcior had previous reported the quarterly numbers but its earnings calls generally lag the reports by several days. CEO Joseph Cowan said a new head of U.S. sales had been hired, although he gave no names. However, LinkedIn shows Peter Elmgren joined Epicor as VP of sales in December.

But Cowan said that sales execution was only one factor in the revenue decline, the others being currency impact and several large deals in the year ago quarter that were not matched this year. "Our first quarter top line performance was disappointing," said Cowan, who noted that a sales force reorganization at the beginning of the quarter also had an impact. ERP revenue slipped to $150 million, down 2.8 percent from $154.6 million a year earlier. Besides commenting on revenue, CFO Kathy Crusco outlined restructuring in development, support and G&A. This involved moving head count from the United States to a new India technology center and Mexico, which produced some U.S. layoffs. "We have had a big initiative on shutting down smaller offices in the U.S.," Crusco added. Epicor is now emphasizing regional offices. Elmgren spent nine months at HP through June. Before that, he spent two years seven months at Polycom where he held senior sale positions. From December 2005 through October 2011, he worked at Intel where he was head of global sales and operations.
