EXACT NAMES DIVISION HEAD Featured

Paul Ramakers, ExactExact has named Paul Ramakers as managing director of its Business Solutions Division. The most notable thing about this is it is the first announcement made by the company since it went private at the end of March with its buyout by funds advised by Apax Partners. The move has no immediate impact in this country, but there are some implications. The job had been vacant since Marinus ter Laak resigned in December.

Ter Laak was a member of the executive board, the top executives who lead day-to-day operations. Ramakers, who joined Exact in 2005, was not named to that board.  In European practice such boards usually are comprised by the CEO, CFO and another top executive, but there is no requirement that it be filled by a person with a particular title (as far as I can see). Ramakers has held the title of managing director Benelux and corporate strategy director. He was credited for initiating projects that moved Exact into the cloud software business for SMBs. In prepared remarks, CEO Erik van der Meijden said Ramakers had been "highly involved" with the company's resellers network since 2003. Business Solutions products are not sold in the United States, but the appointment underscores Exact's commitment to moving fully to the cloud, and apparently to the channel, which is being rebuilt in the U.S. for Macola.
