X3 SALES VP ARMSTRONG OUT Featured

Donna Armstrong, SageDonna Armstrong, who has served as sales VP for the Sage X3 line, is leaving the company. Sage announced her departure this week following its earlier statement that the letters ERP would be dropped from Sage ERP X3 because it made clients think the product was costly and inflexible. Armstrong had held the position since April 2012 and joined Sage in 2010 as director of its professional services group. Rich Spring, new to the company in April as chief revenue officer, said North American units sales of X3 are up 40 percent over last.

She is leaving for the usual reason of other pursuits. The X3 team reports to Spring until a replacement can be named. The executive body count is starting to rise. In the previous few months, Sage spent time this year creating new global VPs. Now it is jettisoning execs. That count since March includes Pascal Houillon, CEO of Sage America, and Joe Langner, EVP and GM of mid-market solutions. I presume we are seeing the impact of Stephen Kelly, who joined as CEO of the parent Sage Group in October, and may be seeing the effect of the return of Jodi Uecker-Rust as interim president of Sage North America. We also have the relocation of Sage's North American headquarters from Irvine, Calif., to Atlanta, Ga., and the beginning of the establishment of Customer Business Centers worldwide, starting with the first in Atlanta. Things are hopping.
