NELSON: NETSUITE, SAP, M'SOFT BIG 3 IN SAAS

Given the chance to address analysts about NetSuite's year for the ended December 31,  NetSuite CEO Zach Nelson predicted his company, Microsoft and SAP will be the major players as the SaaS market narrows down. and he preceded to trash the competition, something that's been a hallmark of NetSuite's presentations.
Without mentioning SAP's BusinessByDesign by name, Nelson referred to SAP this way. "They are still mired in a seemingly endless alpha release, unable to deliver the product to more than a handful of users." Nelson said by its own predictions, SAP should already have had $1 billion in annual revenue from the SaaS offering. In describing Microsoft's SaaS strategy, Nelson fired away that it "has largely been ignored and probably for good. They don’t appear to have any visible strategy to bring Windows-centric products such as their Great Plains product line into the era of cloud computing." He pictured the Microsoft promotion of hosting to get to SaaS as being the same platform that produced the dot-com era. At least he didn't use one of the company's favorite phrases, "Stone Age software", to described on-premise competitive packages. The SAP situation is supposed to change soon as that vendor has pledged to deliver BBD in volume mid-year and is reportedly signing up American VARs.
