SAP MERGES SMB GROUPS Featured

Barry Padgett, SAPSAP has merged organizations that market its lower-end products. The company is placing SAP Business One, Anywhere and Business ByDesign in one organization under Barry Padgett as president. Padgett was most recently chief product officer for Concur, having spent nearly 20 years at that organization. Another Concur veteran, CIO Steve deRham, is taking on an additional role as CIO for SAP's Business Networks & Applications group. Both report to Steve Singh the head of SAP's BNA operations.

My perception is that these products had largely disappeared in terms of SAP voicing much information about them so perhaps that is about to change. The announcement was short on detail, but SAP indicated there will be more developments coming. In the press release, SAP said the re-organization was in line with principles Singh outlined at the company's Sapphire conference in May. A review of that speech show those were fairly general principles and not terribly enlightening. The last time there was much talk about ByD came in November 2014 when the company appointed Michael Schmitt as the product's general manager and during that same period said that it would develop a new ByD channel. SAP did not go out of its way since then to explain what has happened.
