FISHBOWL LINKS TO AVALARA Featured

Marshal Kushniruk, AvalaraFishbowl has written a link for its manufacturing and inventory packages to AvaTax, the cloud-based sales tax engine from Avalara. The move came as Avalara initiated a thrust into smaller businesses—including those that can be best described as candidates for purchasing Intuit's QuickBooks Self-Employed.

Marshal Kushniruk, Avalara's VP of global business development, said the key to reaching very small business is automation as selling to them in other ways would be too expensive. "The only way we could sell to the small business is through technology," Kushniruk says. Avalara has created a business unit to serve organizations of the target size. The Seattle, Wash.-based software company has also created an online small business community center, which was described as a one-stop location for looking up tax rates, learning more about where sales tax must be collected and remitted. They will also be able to download white papers, register for free webinars, browse a directory of accounting firms, 'test drive' Avalara's solutions TrustFile and AvaTax. Kushniruk notes that small companies face the same requirements as bigger enterprises. They must collect and remit sales taxes, but often lack resources to handle those responsibilities or may not even recognize their legal obligations.
