DYNAMICS “TENARIFE” ANNOUNCED Featured

Alysa Taylor, MicrosoftThe product code-named “Tenarife” is hitting the market as Dynamics Business Central next month This product is essentially the next-generation of Dynamics NAV in the cloud. There's one wrinkle—for the first time in ages, Microsoft is making nods toward the accounting firm market.

“This new name will ultimately replace the NAV name,” one reseller said, not wishing to be quoted publicly. The reseller sees NAV as the ultimate route for Dynamics customers. “I think this may begin to trigger some GP partners to realize their future is to learn this new product,” he said. “They have a migration tool to take GP to the Microsoft cloud.” Another Dynamics dealer doubted the reasoning on GP. What we haven’t seen for a while was something on a Tab on the B.C. web page that reads “Accountant”. It it’s been a while since Microsoft has played this game. There’s the standard free system for accountants. If a company licenses two users for $40 per month per user, the package will have three users—one free for the accountant. The official announcement was made in a blog post by Alysa Taylor, GM of business apps and strategy. Those remarks included the following. “The spring release will continue our focus on new modern, modular applications, expanded analytics and AI software and improvements to our global, trusted, hybrid, secure cloud platform.”
