Scott McFarlane, CEO of Avalara, said in this week’s earnings webcast that Avalara’s Intuit relationship differs with those with other vendors as it only receives referrals. “Their sales force is telling their customers to come to us,” he said. As far as Intuit’s acquisition, “We have not seen anything of their purchase in moving into the space. We are seeing more reliance on what they are doing with us.” An inquiry has been sent to Intuit for possible comment. When Intuit acquired Exactor, intentions were given in this statement in a press release: “Intuit plans to integrate this feature into QuickBooks Online making it easy for its retail customers to accurately track and file sales tax returns on-time, every time.” Intuit’s website says its offering syncs with Square, Revel and ShopKeep. It also connects to BigCommerce, PayPal and Shopify.
