QBES USER COUNT JUMPS

Intuit logoIntuit has reported there were 43,000 active purchasers of QuickBooks Enterprise Solutions when the third quarter ended on April 30 as it released financial results from the period. That’s up 19.4 percent from 36,000 in last year’s corresponding quarter. But basically, over the last three quarters the number has been rising at 2,000 per quarter. That’s the only information Intuit provides in its financial results regarding the midmarket product (a product description I heard some people dismissing at Sage Insights).
On the regular QuickBooks side, Intuit sold 516,000 of its lower-end QB units for the quarter just ended, down 13.4 percent from 596,000 a year earlier. There hasn’t been a lot of news about QBES lately, although an interview about Intuit payroll resellers with BJ Schaknowski, who leads Intuit’s channel program, produced the information that there will be more products made available for the QBES resellers. But feedback from the VARs continues to be that competition from the direct sales force has many traditional VARs, who were recruited to the QBES channel in the last two years. sitting on the sidelines.
