SAGE RESELLERS LOOKING FOR CLOUDS?

One Sage reseller signing up with Acumatica, which markets Web-based ERP and CRM applications does not a trend make. During the week, Ipswich, Mass.-based BrainSell, took on the Web product.

Until this move, Brainsell was a largely Sage house, carrying Act, SalesLogix, MAS 90/200/500 and Peachtree Quantum. OK, so it had QuickBooks Enterprise Solutions also. But there's a lot of muttering in the Sage channel about the company's lack of SaaS offerings. That frustration started showing up last year when Hightower, in the larger range of Sage VARs, took up NetSuite. I'm not sure how successful that marriage has been, given NetSuite's not-so-great relationship with resellers. Anyone who can read the handwriting in the clouds is probably eying alternatives. Well, let's toss in Microsoft too because its hosting approach strikes me as not-quite-SaaS yet. Others in the Acumatica channel fold include Paradigm Analytics, a Phoenix-based reseller that also carries Epicor (despite my saying a couple of issues ago that it didn't market other ERP products); the Moyo Group of Cupertino, Calif.; DynLink of Arlington, Va., which carries Dynamics GP but whose main emphasis is Dynamics CRM; Progressive Systems Solutions of Orlando, Fla., purveyors of Dynamics GP and SL; and the FAS Group of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., whose Web page proclaims it carries Great Plains and Solomon. I guess the company missed the announcement of the name change. Acumatica must have a good salesperson in Florida.
