It hasn't issued any releases in the U.S. since. But posts on the Convergence Europe Web page report sell outs in Frankfort, Germany, (650 in attendance); Vienna (more than 700) and Rotterdam. The events were held over three weeks. Posts on the Facebook page aren't exactly scintillating reading. Here was one for November 5: "The view at Convergence 2009 Rotterdam is great - lots to see and do today." A lot of the "like this" thumbs up for comments look like they came from employees. More compelling information came from Craig Dewar, Microsoft’s director of community marketing, in a You Tube video demonstrating touch-screen commands in a future version of Dynamics AX on Windows 7. This included a simulation of use of a touch-based terminal on a shop floor to start and follow jobs and also a touch-screen device as it would be used by a field-service technician. That You Tube demo was more informative than a lot of the low-calorie, high-fiber keynotes that are often the fare at Microsoft's big conferences. Actually, the most interesting Convergence You Tube video I found was of an attractive, young belly dancer called Angela dancing to The Hollies' tune, "Stop, Stop, Stop" (and other songs) at an event also called Convergence 2009. That probably represents a good opportunity for intensive use of touch. But, I digress.

CONVERGENCE EUROPE DOES WELL

If the adage that no new is good news is applied, then Convergence Europe did very well indeed. Microsoft launched the four-city event with a press release that said little other than the fact the shows were being held.
