And when he talked about results last week, Apotheker went out of his way to praise Business One, as did co-founder and chairman Hasso Plattner in discussing the management reorganization. During a Webast, Plattner emphasized SAP would become a multi-product company, which we can read as "We're a lot more than an enterprise software company." He also rebutted press coverage that claimed unhappiness with the roll out of BusinessByDesign, which seems to be gaining speed, was behind Apotheker's departure. Plattner also said the two had no differences regarding strategy. But he noted, "I will do everything to make SAP a happy company again" and then hedged that by stating SAP is not an unhappy company. The one problem area Plattner hit head on was SAP's raising maintenance fees, which he had supported. While big customers were happy with the change, "I completely lost sight of how the smaller companies, or the companies who sit on a 10-year old SAP system see the same issue," Plattner said. "We have to regain trust, here." Plattner also said that the results of an SAP employee survey "were not good."
