SERENIC REPORTS PROFITABLE YEAR

Nonprofit accounting software vendor Serenic rebounded to a $297,694 profit for the year ended February 28. That compared to a loss of $1.2 million for fiscal 2009. That came as revenue rose to $10.7 million for the year just ended, an increase of 15.2 percent from $9.33 million the prior year. However, it had a weaker fourth quarter. All numbers are reported in Canadian dollars.

The Canadian company reported a loss of $154,260 for fiscal 2010, although that was an 11.8 percent improvement from the year earlier loss of $175 million, And revenue for the most recently ended year dropped to $2.45 million, off 8.6 percent, from $2.67 million. Licenses sales for the fourth quarter were down by 23.8 percent, as the company ended the year with license revenue up by 30.8 percent, driven by the release of a new version of Serenic Navigator, which runs with Microsoft's Dynamics NAV. Serenic said it would be aggressive in expanding its markets this year and would provide more resources in both its company and channel efforts, but did not spell out its plans. The company also noted it continues its relationship with  PricewaterhouseCoopers Corporate Finance which it engaged in February to assist in investigating ways to maximize shareholder value. These could include a capital structure review, new strategic partnerships, or merger and acquisition alternatives. No other details have been released.
