INFOR ADOPTS MICROSOFT STANDARD

Infor's announcement that it is adopting Microsoft as its preferred technology and tools provider signals another step in the giant software company's work to bring its menagerie of acquired products onto a common platform.
The next generation of products will use a graphical interface running on Share Point 2010 for all applications; SQL Server as the company's preferred database;  Windows Server as the preferred on-premise operating system; Silverlight for dynamic graphical interface elements; and the Microsoft Single Sign On service. Infor will also build reports, dashboards and analytics on SharePoint 2010. The company's prepared statement said it expects that adopting Microsoft technology will enable it to more quickly introduce products because of greater code re-use, more standardization of technologies across applicable Infor applications, and decreased overall design complexity. No schedule was given for transition of products to the Microsoft platform or any indication of which might take the plunge first.
