ON THE TOP CHANNEL WOMEN
Usually I don't take shots at other media. But the CRN's Selection of the Power 100: The Most Powerful Women of the Channel has me in my best John McEnroe "Surely you can't be serious" mode. (And don't call me Shirley.) There were two women from ConnectWise, which employees 84 people on the list. There was Lorrie Klaus, SVP at Epicor.
As much as I find amusement in the contortions Epicor goes through because she's married to the CEO, all indications are she's a top-notch executive who has done a great job. But the company only gets 20 percent of its revenue from channel, even though that's growing. So, unless they didn't fill out some forms for entering, how do you justify leaving out Sue Swenson, CEO of Sage North America, and Jodi Uecker-Rust, who runs all of the business that has financial applications? For the first half ended March 31, Sage North America had $428.7 million in revenue and it employed 4,000 people. And that money is virtually all from channel sales. All they have to do to be influential is show up for work every day. Besides Uecker-Rust's role as a day-to-day executive, she has the respect of a lot of people she worked with in the channel at Great Plains.
