DYNAMICS SL DEALERS SCRAMBLING?
Noting the number of Dynamics SL dealers moving onto the Acumatica platform made me realize that the Solomon crowd faces a problem when Microsoft starts taking orders for last cigarettes and blindfolds for many of its smaller VARs this fall. My impression has always been that Solomon had more lifestyle VARs than Great Plains did, although I have nothing to back that up.
In any case, Dynamics SL is the only one of Microsoft's Fab Four ERP products not developed by Microsoft—it's developed by Plumbline Solutions in Findlay, Ohio. When you're that far from the Mother ship, you've got to feel at times like the ugly baby at the prettiest baby contest. Reports are that Joe Longo, a former Solomon reseller who is VP of consulting services of Plumbline Solutions and head of Plumbline Consulting which provides engineering services, has been trying to work out a program that will help SL VARs. The word was this is not a roll up or any kind of consolidation effort. In any event, Longo's voice mail box at Plumbline Solutions is not accepting messages and Plumbline CEO Joseph Young didn't return a call for information. Plumbline, by the way, has gotten very insular. It does send out newsletters but it hasn’t issued a press release in over three years and the home page has 2005 as the copyright year.
