INFOR BUYS VAR OPS, BUT …
Infor said despite its acquisition of the ERP LN operations of Qurius, once a top Microsoft reseller in Europe, it remains committed to the channel. Qurius has been an Infor implementation partner, but under the deal Infor picks up the business and 60 staffers who will serve Infor’s ERP LN customers in Italy, Germany and Spain, all for around $5 million. Qurius, based in Belgium, continues as a Microsoft Dynamics VAR. Infor VP Dennis Michaelis said in a prepared statement that this move does not represent a strategic shift away from the use of channel partners.
Some may wonder why I continue to report on Qurius. It’s because it’s such a nice counterpoint to the demise of the MIS Group, once Sage’s largest American reseller, last year. Microsoft tried to make hay out of that. Yet, Qurius, the Dynamics NAV Worldwide Partner of the Year in 2007, has been bailing out the water fast. It suspended debt payments last year, then caught up with money received by selling subsidiaries, and also pulled out of Sweden and Denmark. It got a new CEO in January, along with new managing directors for Belgium and United Kingdom and its chief operating officer also resigned this year. It got the chance to adjust in a way the MIS Group didn’t. But it’s not quite where it was two years ago.
