FACEBOOK AS JOB BOARD?
Mint.com runs a little looser than many operations. The Intuit subsidiary is actively loading its Facebook page with very cleverly worded descriptions of job openings. Here is the recent posting for an opening for senior quality assurance/test automation engineer. "Tired of waiting for our mobile app updates? Know how to write automation scripts and file bugs? We're looking for (more like: HELP WE NEED SOMEONE!!!) another mobile QA engineer...come join us."
This should have appeal to folks of a certain age (like young). I haven't browsed enough company pages to say this is uncommon, but it's got a flare that most people don't have so it probably is uncommon. It does a good job of establishing the page as a dialog between the company and readers. This can be a valuable tool, although it takes a web jockey who has the right kind of writing style and people touch. And it probably doesn't fit every kind of business. I'm trying to imagine a funeral home page "Well, your friend's dead and that sucks. But you can win $10,000 for referring people to our 'Drop Dead' contest and there's discounts on embalming fluid."
