NETSUITE PICKS TURF OVER SURF

NetSuite, which has pumped a lot of money into Oakland Athletics sponsorships, put even more money into that effort in 2010.  The Athletics relationship goes back to July 2004 and the investment has picked up considerably. Starting in 2008, NetSuite agreed to pay the Athletics $429,000 over three years. In April 2009, NetSuite agreed to toss in $50,000 per year through 2011 for additional in-stadium signage and in December 2009, adding $157,000 per year for three years starting in January 2010.

The Athletics have been receiving and continue to receive use of NetSuite software at no cost. NetSuite paid the sports organization $420,000, $282,000 and $385,000 respectively in 2010, 2009 and 2009. For whatever reason, the value of services provided to Oracle Racing, owned by Lawrence J. Ellison who also owns a majority of NetSuite stock, declined sharply. This money goes for logo placement on the Oracle Empire’s fleet. The value of services supplied to the racing team was $49,000, $250,000 and $251,000 for 2010, 2009 and 2008 respectively. However, the company calculated the value of logo placement was much higher than the goodies it gave Oracle. NetSuite said the value of logo placement was approximately $75,000 to $95,000 during 2010, approximately $750,000 to $950,000 during 2009 and approximately $250,000 to $350,000 per year during 2008.
