SAP: BYD UP TO 400 CUSTOMERS

Bill McDermottSAP says 400 customers are now using its Business ByDesign application, up from 250 at the end of 2010. The company made that statement as part of the recent earnings webcast for the first quarter ended March 31. CO-CEO Jim Hagemann-Snabe also said that one third of the new sites have been sold by the channel, which now has 150 members. He added the company sees progress in selling ByD to subsidiaries of large companies and that the indirect channel is expanding more rapidly than the direct channel.

More Sage and Dynamics resellers seem ready to come on board—one newbie asked not to be identified as a ByD reseller in the Top 100 report until Sage could be notified. This week, a Dynamics reseller asked me what I thought of BYD, so I take it that interest is building rapidly in the two major channels. By the time people ask my opinion, I assume they are deep into the process since I don’t use the software and my view is different than a user or resellers. Overall, SAP continued to hit its channel theme. CO-CEO Bill McDermott said SAP had its best quarter ever it the SME space with ByD, All in One and Business One. He added, “We see the indirect channel as essential to drive accelerated growth.”
