JERSEY SHORE REPORT

Continuing the trend on the boardwalk at the New Jersey Shore for the last two years, there are no dominant figures in the stuffed prize world. Large dreadlocked bananas were the most common offering with a decent showing of Smurfs. Here and there were some Pillow Pets, the usual Tweetie or two. And there were few new trends in the fried arena.

Just about everything that can be fried has been, although fried pickles seemed more prevalent than before. Most notable was the fall off in Jersey Shore paraphernalia. There wasn't a Snooki t-shirt visible and signs that last year boasted of Seaside Heights' affiliation with the realty TV show, "The Jersey Shore," were not visible. The "Shoot the Guido" game continued, but seemed a bit dated with targets including Michael Jackson and Saddam Hussein. Perhaps a sign of the recession was the fact that the top prizes for "The Frog Bog" in which contestants try to vault a plastic frog into one of a number of lily pads seemed to be far less valuable than in past years. Hey, didn't they used to offer a bike?
