A few years ago an Icelandic company, Kogun, purchased SCS Dynamics, a California reseller. However, that was before that country's economy melted down. Last year, Alfapeople, a European retail specialist, started operations in this country. But Alfapeople, which was formed by the founder of Columbus by purchasing a lot of the latter's reselling operations, came out with a great deal of noise and quickly became very quiet. Then there is the news that K3, another retail specialist, is considering bids for the company while insisting it will probably stay independent. The push for the development of verticals in Dynamics AX has always suggested that expansion by VARs in Europe is inevitable since AX serves larger businesses and larger businesses tend to operate internationally. Columbus already had reselling operations in the U.S. and worldwide products coming from its ToIncrease development business. Qurius just established its own ISV arm, QIPTree, which appears to be on the same course.
