SUGAR STARTS CERTIFICATION PROGRAM

James Ward, Brainsell TechnologiesSugarCRM did the usual things that vendors do at conferences - it spun out a lot of news. The important events include signing a new distribution agreement with Ingram Micro, announcing a certification program and forming an advisory board. All that came out of SugarCon 12, the company’s conference held in San Francisco this week.
The Ingram deal enables members of Ingram Micro’s Advanced Computing Division to sell SugarCRM 6.5 in North America. In terms of its own channel, Sugar said 39 new channel partners signed up in the March quarter. The host said certification classes and courses will be offered for sales executive, pre-sales engineer, support consultant, service consultant and developer positions while all channel partners are now required to certify at least one person each in the sales executive, pre-sales engineer and service consultant roles. The company said the partner advisory board has 12 members, with Jim Ward, CEO of Brainsell Technologies, as its president. In addition, SugarCRM said it would launch new marketing and business planning programs and provide resellers with additional incentives for meeting sales goals but did not spell these out. Whew!
