EDGEWATER PLANS CHANNEL APP

Shirley Singleton, Edgewater TechnologyMaybe it was to help brighten up a webcast with a slightly down fourth quarter, but Edgewater Technology executives spent a lot of time talking about what it’s calling a partner portal. That’s the working name for a product built on Dynamics CRM, AX and Sharepoint, “We are in the latter stages of a completing a module that will enable better tracking of channel partners and associated deal flows,” CEO Shirley Singleton said.

The product will be aimed at the manufacturing market, not surprising since the company's FullScope operations concentrate there. She also believes this kind of intellectual property is going to be “the strategic cutting edge in providing consulting.” It will provide channel control and “allow you to work with utilization.” A decline in utilization was a factor in a headcount reduction of undisclosed size in the consulting ranks that was done before the end of 2012. The fourth quarter ended December 31 saw growth in net income, which reached $345,000 compared to a net loss a year earlier of $1.9 million. The year-ago figures included a $2.2-million abandonment charge. Singleton said Oracle customers “took a siesta” during the normally busy quarter. However, she said only one company cancelled its project while other customers closed during the current quarter. Revenue for the most recently ended period was $24.2 million a decline of 8.3 percent from $26.4 million for the corresponding period in 2011. Net income rose sharply to $1.4 million from $344,000 in 2011. Revenue of $100.9 million for the year just ended was down 1.4 percent from $102.4 million. The 2011 figures included $2.7 million of process-related royalties that did not recur in 2012.
