SAGE’S SULLIVAN JOINS AVALARA Featured

Avalara newTim Sullivan, who was a leader in the Sage X3 effort, has joined Avalara as director of sales. His LinkedIn page shows that Sullivan joined the Bainbridge Island, Wash.-based sales and use tax vendor in April, but the hiring has not been officially announced. Sullivan was director of Sage ERP X3 from January 2011 through April 2014. Before that, he was an area sales manager for Microsoft from June 2002 through January 2011.

I’m not sure there’s any more turnover than we’ve normally seen from Sage. But what stands out is that two people who have been in growth areas have chosen to leave. X3 is widely viewed as Sage’s future in the financial software market. Greg Hammermaster, who had served as president of the Sage Payments Division, left a few weeks ago to take a job with First Data. Although Sage said in its third quarter management statement that payments had been weak during the period it had been a growing segment.
