MYOB INVESTS IN ACUMATICA Featured

Jon Roskill, AcumaticaAustralian software vendor, MYOB has invested in Acumatica. Acumatica CEO Jon Roskill said today that MYOB, which is owned by Bain Capital, has made a “significant investment” and has taken a seat on the board. MYOB is also testing a cloud-based product, MYOB Advanced, which it built on the Acumatica platform. “We see a huge opportunity, said Gary Katzeff, national manager of MYOB’s Australian Enterprise Division. The announcement was made today at Acumatica’s Partner Summit in the Denver suburbs. It's an important move. In the cloud race, being able to show a solid financial base is important in raising a company's profile with everyone--the resellers, the ISVs, the customers and prospects.

It also suggests that in the expensive world of cloud development, the old build-versus-buy theme kicks in. If you can't afford to develop a cloud platform, buy one. Paychex did that with its investment in Kashoo. The show kicked off with the naming of SWK Technologies of Livingston, N.J. – and long-time Sage reseller—as recipient of an award for having the largest Acumatica deployment in the last year. Very interesting that the award was the first official announcement made at the keynote. It’s a good model for other vendors with channels, but too many big guys thing they most important thing is puffing themselves up.
