Brad Smith, IntuitIntuit promises a "big reveal" at its show next week. As outlined by execs at September's Investor's Day, it may involve QuickBooks Online as a small business application hub. During the presentation, CEO Brad Smith said the average small business has 18 applications and wants to ensure that "all of these apps that a small business uses [will] flow in and out of QuickBooks" SVP Dan Wernikoff outlined how it might work: "It needs to be very simple. It needs to be integrated across many, many applications. It needs to be a single cloud.

It needs to work on all devices, and it needs to have a single source of data." Wernikoff said. "We want it to be a single instance globally. We want it to work with all third-party apps. We want it to work with all our apps." Smith made $12.5 million in 2013. Execs that well-paid do not spend time talking about a distant future. Already announced is a decision to drop QuickBooks Online Accountant – which has a negative Net Promoter Score – and replace it with QB Accountant whose features are closer to new the QBO. The company may also talk about its matching small businesses with lenders by using QB data to show a businesses' health so that lenders do not rely on an individual's credit score. Intuit has helped SMBs secure $45 million in loans with a 70-percent acceptance level, but gave no details. Additionally, Intuit, out to grab 50 percent of all consumer and professionally prepared tax returns, described new pro tax products, including a tax engine for going global and said it will ensure QBO can tie more easily with third-party products. Intuit is also targeting the self-employed model with the new QuickBooks Online Self-employed.
