Robert Johnson, CRO MECLABSRobert Johnson, a former Sage North America manager, has taken a job as executive director of sales and marketing for CRO MECLABS. His LinkedIn page describes his new employer as a " research institute that has spent the past 20+ years understanding the cognitive psychology of conversion." Johnson had been national sales manager, channels, for Avalara from September 2011 through this month.

He joined Avalara from Sage, having started with that company via Timberline Software in 1995 and moving to Sage with its purchase of the construction software operation. From March 2004 through September 2010 he had senior director-level positions in Sage's channel program. We're starting to see movement in manager and executive ranks, presumably an effect of an improving economy. I'm still waiting for Terry Hicks, VP and general manager of QuickBooks Online for Intuit to be announced in an executive position somewhere. No one has confirmed he is leaving the company. On the other hand, there have not been any statements that our reporting of his departure are dead wrong
