Tom Parker, Avalara Avalara has hired a Microsoft veteran as its chief information officer. Tom Parker joined the Bainbridge Island, Wash.-based sales-and-use-tax vendor after working as director for application security at Microsoft where he was responsible for overall risk management of Microsoft’s IT application portfolio.

EPICOR REVAMPS CHANNEL PROGRAMS

Matt Bauer,  EpicorIn the last year, Epicor’s channel program has been revamped from “a schizophrenic approach” to something more standard. Matt Bauer, director of the Americas channel, said Epicor had vacillated between “We love resellers. We hate resellers” and needed a consistent approach. Bauer took over the channel job in February 2012.

ORACLE, NETSUITE TO SELL ERP, HCM

Zach Nelson, NetSuiteOracle and NetSuite have announced they will deliver integrated HCM and ERP cloud functionality to mid-size customers. They will be aided by Deloitte, which plans to develop tools and implementation services. And is anybody really surprised by this development? Oracle is developing product integration and a go-to-market strategy.

The industry is abuzz with speculation that CEO Steve Ballmer is not talking to anyone about what’s going to happen. That silence does suggest the speculation the number of divisional presidents might change when the company’s new fiscal year begins on July 1 are correct.

FOURTH QUARTER MAKES SERENIC’S YEAR

SerenicBooming fourth-quarter software license sales pushed nonprofit vendor Serenic to greatly improved results for its year ended February 28. The company reported net income of $39,110 compared to a 2012 loss of $176,375. Revenue rose to $12.1 million, a 12-percent increase from last year. Results got a big kick from fourth-quarter license sales of $1.8 million, which represented a 164.1-percent increase from last year’s corresponding period.

Columbus, the Dynamics reseller based in Denmark, has upgraded its ColumbusCare services to help with product transitions. ColumbusCare Upgrade Services provides custom-developed tools, analyzers and process that the VAR says helps end users understand options, the advantages and disadvantages of each and recommends the best upgrade path. Columbus has four customizable packages based on the most pervasive upgrade scenarios that range from simple needs to complete implementations. Recommendations reflect the version being used at the company, the complexity of existing modifications business processes and upgrade paths available for integrated third-party applications. Columbus also has a team of specialized Upgrade Consultants.

INFOR SAYS Q4 REVENUE UP 10 PERCENT

infor logo new.Infor expects to report that revenue for the fourth quarter ended May 31 will be about 10-percent higher than a year ago. That increase was calculated in constant currencies with the increase in actual currencies up about 9 percent. Preliminary results also show a roughly 9 percent increase in both constant currency and actual rates for non-GAAP software license fees and subscription revenue for the last quarter of fiscal 2013.

KEYEDIN PROJECT 5.3 AVAILABLE

KeyedIn Solutions has launched Version 5.3 of KeyedIn Projects. The major feature of the new version is the Analytics Dashboard, which the company described as an extension of existing reporting functions.  Using the dashboard, users can create widgets with various data such as Project Health, Billings, and Resource Utilization and combine them into a single window or Dashboard. User-definable, Dashboards enable data to be analyzed by drilling into the source directly from the Dashboard. Widgets can be data-oriented or graphic. Other features include enhancements to Task Planning, Scheduling, Scenario Modeling, Billing and Resource Capabilities.

Microsoft has made Dynamics GP and NAV 2013 available on its Azure cloud platform. Despite the publicity Microsoft sent out for the development, it's still not a cloud product in the NetSuite, Acumatica or Intacct sense. Should we open the debate of whether we should add the word "true"?
