TOP 100 VARS GET BIGGER

BSI Top 100No, not everyone had a great year. And despite the fact that many resellers are reporting an uptick that did not apply to final 2012 results many of which were lower than 2011. What I am talking about when I say the Top 100 VARs got bigger is the cutoff point for making the list grew. It appears that making the list will require about $3.8 million in revenue.

From my experience here and at a previous publication, the top 100 cutoff has never hit $4 million. But it’s still possible. There always seem to be resellers that pop from nowhere, especially at the last minute, and I and resellers who have been in the business for decades go “Where have they been?” Something besides growth of firms may play a role here. It may just be that for the past two years, some firms, struck hard by the recession, were reluctant to participate. When things start looking good, it’s a lot easier to convince VARs to participate in these selections. Stay tuned: the Top 100 will be unveiled before May.
