EXACT RAISING MAINTENANCE FEES

Exact, which markets the Macola, Synergy and Globe applications in the United States, is raising maintenance fees. While this does not affect American users, it comes at a time when Exact is trying to fix a litany of woes outlined earlier this month by its new CEO Martijn Janmaat. The company is likely to pull back from many countries to concentrate on five key ones, including the U.S. And almost two weeks ago, the following was posted on its website: “As of January 1, 2011 the maintenance fees for Exact software will be raised.

The new maintenance fees will be based on the Dutch CBS index (Customer Price Index (CPI), 2006 = 100). This index was 1.58% for the period between September 2009 and September 2010.” One reseller who inquired said it appears to be limited to the Netherlands. However, the wording on the site did not explain the announcement and I can only call this clumsy, which has been the way I’ve categorized Exact product moves in this country in the last few years.
