DYNAMICS CRM 2013 HYPED Featured

Kirill Tatarinov, MicrosoftHyped is a fair word for the worldwide event Microsoft held yesterday, a major gathering of dogs and ponies. Broadcast from Barcelona, Spain, the webcast had high production values as Convergence 2013 EMEA kicked off this week. When Dynamics GM Fred Studer said it was as close as he would get to the Oscars, I wondered if he saw a lot of breast implants and facelifts.

The main topics of the CRM talk were its mobile capabilities and new user interface. There was no doubt about the depth of Microsoft's commitment to the new product as it trotted out a bevy of happy users. What was not so apparent was the commitment to the financial products. Yes, Dynamics president Kirill Tatarinov noted Microsoft is committed to Dynamics. But at no point did Microsoft say, "And of course Microsoft CRM works with our four outstanding ERP products." I don't remember anyone from Microsoft talking about them. There were at least two mentions of buying the stack. But in an hour-long event, the only information about accounting applications came when the representative from Pandora Jewelry said her company uses Dynamics GP. So the other corporate users don't have accounting systems? If nothing else from a PR view, it seems odd not to take advantage of the opportunity to promote the other Dynamics products.
