SAGE SEEKS NFP PERSON, SO? Featured

SageSage is seeking a project manager with an intriguing set of qualifications. The posting says the candidate more than six years experience in the software industry. It also notes that "exposure to the government and nonprofit market is preferred (specifically around the fund accounting and fund-raising elements of those organizations). A query sent to Sage brought what appears to be an official no response and since the ad is already being passed around the channel, the speculation began without this item needing to be published here.

The ad also asks for "deep experience and expertise with Salesforce.com, preferably implementation or product management." Many remember Sage sold its nonprofit products early in 2013 to the Accel-KKR, which used the products to form Abila. They should also remember that in February, Sage entered a deal with Salesforce.com At that time, the company said, "Sage will develop on the Salesforce 1 platform "to extend its capability in delivering cloud solutions to the small and medium-sized companies market." Maybe someone at Sage thinks, as I did at the time, that getting out of the NFP market was not a good idea. Sage has long had its accountant programs and accounting firms have a big interest in NFP clients and have made good resellers in the space.
