UNIT4 TO CREATE "SELF-DRIVING ERP" Featured

Jose Duarte, Unit4 Unit4 is collaborating with Microsoft to bring to market what it terms self-driving ERP. Developers from the companies will utilize technology from Azure's 's PaaS platform components and Microsoft Office capabilities such as predictive analytics, machine learning, event stream analysis and complex event processing. "Like a self-driving car, self-driving ERP takes care of the tasks that are better served by technology" Unit4 CEO Jose Duarte said in a prepared statement this week.

Azure will be Unit4's preferred public cloud platform. The self-driving concept was discussed in February issue of Diginomica.com, which outlined some of the Unit4 effort. For example, if a company has run hundreds of projects, Diginomica.com said, and has captured that information in the ERP system, the financial application can predict time and cost of the next project. Basically, self-driving systems utilize existing data to eliminate the need for data entry and make calculations and projections. The Unit4 press release says the development team will be established, so it's not surprising no delivery time is mentioned. Whatever the schedule, I think we have found a candidate for buzz-word of the year for 2016 or 2017.
