AVALARA PAIRS WITH MULESOFT
MuleSoft, which provides integration for cloud and on-premise applications, has released Avalara iApp4Tax, a cloud product developed in collaboration with Avalara. Avalara, a cloud-based sales-and-use tax vendor, provides an application programming interface and software development kit for building custom integrations.
However, it expects MuleSoft's Ion integration platform to simplify implementations. According to Chris Purpura, MuleSoft's VP of business development, the Ion platform enables his company to provide integration between applications quickly and should enable Avalara to speed production of integration between its AvaTax and other packages. MuleSoft can often develop connectors "with a day of development and a day of testing," that might take Avalara much longer, he said. MuleSoft already has connectors for half of the OEMs that Avalara supports and it expects to create the rest quickly. The new application is designed to connect AvaTax not only with ERP systems but also with ecommerce storefronts and other applications. The system now integrates Avalara with applications such as QuickBooks Online, Oracle and SAP.
