Kareem Abdul-JabbarOne of the public television channels recently broadcast a promo for an upcoming episode of the cooking show "Lydia's Kitchen". It's called "Crazy for Mushrooms", probably not nearly as interesting as the name sounds.

Although this week TV personality Steve Colbert had a news item about former speaker John Boehner, joining the board of directors of a cannabis company, who knows? Maybe this signals a new wave of ex-Congress people returning to lobby on behalf of the marijuana industry. Instead of the 1928 promise of a chicken in every pot and a car in every garage, they will be promising pot in every car.   … I saw a local lady of the evening on the street, yelling at a white-haired man who appeared to be a customer. You know the studios missed a merchandising opportunity for marketing a brand of wood chippers.  "Clearing a lot; disposing of a body, Chipaway can do the job." … Basketball great Kareem Abdul-Jabbar will appear on "Dancing with the Stars" this season. It will be great fun watching him palm his dance partner and then dribble them down the floor. With frost hanging on into the tenth week after February 2, there was talk of citizens of Punxsutawney, Pa., replacing the annual Ground Hog's Day festivities with an annual ground hog roast. Actor Bill Murray reprises his famous movie role, turning to the town's mayor with "You want a breast or a thigh?"
