EPICOR, SAGE TO SUPPORT AZURE

Azure logoEpicor and the Sage Group said this week that they would support the Microsoft Azure platform. This is one of those announcements that would be more news if Epicor Sage did not support Azure. It’s hard to imagine a mainline company avoiding the Microsoft cloud platform.

The Sage Group has said it would develop SMB financial software products on the Azure platform starting with Sage 200 in the United Kingdom and Sage Murano in Spain. The applications will be rolled out to pilot sites this year and are planned for introduction in 2013. They will also be interoperable with Microsoft Office 365. The press release announcing the decision gave no indication of the schedule for moving accounting products in other countries to Azure. Epicor outlned its plans at its Insights 2012 conference in Las Vegas this week. This includes support for Azure for Epicor's web-based applications and for the Epicor ICE Business Architecture that was announced at the show. Epicor said ICE would be used in developing platform as a service and infrastructure as a service products.
