DESHAIES ADDED TO SAGE'S EX-MICROSOFT PACK

Robet DeshaiesSage North America is starting to look like Microsoft Business Solutions in exile as it has hired Robert Deshaies as EVP of Sage Business Solutions to head its construction and real estate business and its specialized solutions operations. The latter include FAS, Abra and value products.

Until someone can be named to replace the recently departed John Geffel, Deshaies will handle the day-to-day GM responsibilities for construction and real estate. He was most recently VP of Microsoft's U.S. Partner Group and had oversight for partner strategy, group management, business development, marketing and sales. Deshaies has worked at most of the important former companies in this business, State of the Art, Solomon and Great Plains. His hiring was announced by Jodi Uecker-Rust, president of Sage Business Solutions, and formerly one of the key executives at Great Plains and then MBS. With former GPer Tom Miller previously on board in the channel program, I get the feeling we haven't seen the last of this connection in restocking the Sage pond. Uecker-Rust said the addition of Deshaies will free Himanshu Palsule, who had been supervising Specialized Solutions, to put all his attention on business strategy. The Sage doors continue to revolve. As mentioned in this newsletter, former Accpac VP David Lahey joined SpeedTax. Meanwhile, Sage filled a job that had been vacant since 2007 in hiring Betty Otter-Nickerson as president of the Sage Healthcare division. The group had been run since August 2008 by COO Lindy Benton, who now reports to Otter-Nickerson.
